As mentioned, Roundhay is close to the famous Roundhay Park which holds numerous different events throughout the year that draw people to area. There is a large variety of facilities at the park, meaning that there is something for everyone. These facilities include a large area for concerts, Tropical World - which houses its own butterfly park - aquariums and animal enclosures, and a park café. Although there aren’t any events at the park for the rest of the year, there is no doubt next summer will be jam packed! Over the years, the park has hosted some of the biggest names in in music, including The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Robbie Williams and Michael Jackson. Although for those who don’t prefer music there are plenty of other yearly events such as the North Leeds Food Festival, perfect for all foodies.

The best places for food and drink

Roundhay is highly concentrated with restaurants and cafés along its two main streets – Roundhay Road and Street Lane. The perfect place for a quick lunch is Haley & Clifford Deli, selling gourmet sandwiches and salads to go, not only does the deli offer quick lunches, they also sell cheeses and meats which you can eat in store. Another popular restaurant located on Street Lane is San Carlo Flying Pizza, the perfect Italian which attracts plenty of hungry customers, serving the best original Italian cuisine. The restaurant has been a firm fixture on the Leeds dining social scene since its foundation in 1974, after being taking over by the San Carlo family in 2010 it has had a lavish transformation, and has a beautiful dining terrace with a retractable roof, perfect for those summer evenings.

For those who prefer somewhere that is nice and lively on a Saturday night, then the perfect place to visit is Nappa Bar - serving food by day, on a night it turns into a popular North Leeds destination. There are also plenty of pubs located around the area for those who prefer a quieter drink; The Deer Park is a modern gastropub, which along with drinks serves seasonal dishes depending on the time of year.
